Saveock Water Archaeology Trip - Stone Age

http://www.archaeologyonline.org/

Wow, what an amazing experience we had! We became archaeologists for a day and were able to take part in excavating a brand new site at Saveock Water right above where aerial photographs have shown that there is a round house beneath the surface of the hill! We even discovered the first find of the site - a piece of medieval pottery.

We also got to visit a replica round house where we learnt how to make Stone Age jewelry, use Stone Age tools such as a push drill, how to grind grain to make flour by hand and even how to make rush lamps and soap!
