Update 1.4.21

1st April 2021

Dear parents/carers

COVID update 1.4.21

Today sees the end of another turbulent term due to the pandemic. Although things are not back to normal just yet, the children have returned happy and their wellbeing has definitely improved now they can spend time with their peers. On 19th April when we return to school, we will continue with all the precautionary measures presently in place; staggered start and finish times, class bubbles, staggered break times, blended learning on Friday afternoons etc. We will inform you when this is ready to change. Hopefully it won’t be too long and the weekly communication will return to a digital newsletter rather than a Covid update.

NHS Test and Trace

I will be on call for NHS Test and Trace until 7th April. If your child develops Covid symptoms before Sunday 4th April then could you please have them tested with a PCR test and inform me of a positive result so I am able to contact those in their bubble. If they develop symptoms on or after Sunday 4th April then you do not need to inform me but they should self isolate for the recommended period or until they have a negative result. You can contact me on head@germoe.cornwall.sch.uk

Summer Term

Our inquiry based learning next term will come under the heading of “Strategise for Success.” Children will conduct their own inquiries into their areas of interest with learning prompts from staff such as Olympic games, Healthy eating, mental well being. As long as we continue with the road map in place, we will be able to start our educational trips and visits from 17th May so we are planning some local, risk assessed visits and 2 day residentials to make the Summer term as enjoyable and normal as can be at the present time. We also plan to do our Summer Production and our Year 6 leavers service. We will inform you of details nearer the time.

Parent governor vacancy

We still have a vacancy for a parent governor at our Federation. If you would like any further information or would like to join us for a Zoom meeting to see if it is for you then please contact our chair Russ Monhemius on rmonhemius@boskenwyn.cornwall.sch.uk

We hope you all have a happy, safe Easter period and we look forward to seeing you next term
