Update 22.1.21

22nd January 2021

Dear parents/carers
COVID Update 22.1.21
Thank you once again for your time and patience, the staff have been delighted with the
activities completed by the children this week. They are engaging so well and we are continually
developing our practice to accommodate for their needs. We have many new and exciting
things in the pipeline including live sessions, whole school assemblies, small group learning and
much more. We will inform you of them as soon as we get them up and running.
You will receive an email to your personal address today or Monday which has 2 attachments.
The first is a Zoom charter with guidance for safeguarding of staff and children and the second
is a Remote Education Plan which informs you of the provision available and states what is
expected from you and your children. As always, a reminder that we completely understand that
all families have different circumstances and we are here to help in any way we can.
Live sessions
We are planning on beginning a variety of live sessions in which your children (and you) can
engage with the class teacher and teaching assistant. We are hoping that these sessions will
boost their confidence and increase their motivation and most importantly allow then to connect
with their friends on a regular basis. You will find information about all of the live sessions on the
pupil app on Seesaw as they will be logged as an activity and the links will be sent to your
personal email address. Each class will be different so look out for them, we will do our best to
keep to regular time slots every week. The first whole school session we have planned is PE
with Mr C. Mr Conway will be broadcasting live via Zoom every Tuesday and Thursday morning
at 10.30am, starting next week. It would be great if you and your children could join in with us.
The sessions will be recorded for those who can’t make it so they can access later. Please
adhere to the Zoom charter at all times. You will be notified of all live sessions through your
child’s Seesaw and Zoom links will be sent to your email address so please check emails
regularly.
Online Safety
In school we have a protective fire wall in place which is monitored by staff and by our ICT
providers. Seesaw is also protected and monitored We understand whilst at home we cannot
protect our children from any unwanted behaviours such as online bullying, viewing
inappropriate content. If you see or hear of anything upsetting or disturbing, we will do our best
to help so please contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Miss Blackburn on
head@germoe.cornwall.sch.uk, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead foe Bokenwyn, Mrs
Larcombe on alarcombe@germoe.cornwall.sch.uk, Deputy Safeguarding Lead for Germoe, Mrs

Free School Meals update
Edenred should now have supplied e-vouchers to all families who are entitled (unless they have
been in school and having hot lunches). The government have not yet said they will supply
vouchers to cover February half term but Cornwall Council have stepped in to say they will
provide them from their Covid grant.

Emotional Health and Wellbeing
Please see attached leaflet which Mrs Larcombe has compiled to help you and your children to
recognize signs of anxiety or stress and how to help combat any symptoms. Please also feel
free to contact us, we are here to provide support to the whole family.

Thank you once again for your ongoing support and words of appreciation.
Have a lovely
weekend, take care and stay safe.
Paula Blackburn
